Locked keys in car!!

Crap I can just bet that I am going to get rapped for a locksmith to come out! I just was emptying the groceries out of the back and dropped the keys accidentally in and shut the back. lol, I have an extra key and fob, but unfortunately its in my glove compartment. I know!

Don't knock it until you try it!

Locked keys in car

About 5 years ago, I accidently locked my keys in the car. It was real close to dark, starting to rain, and I was parked in a real bad section of town. There on my front seat in plain view was my wallet, my checkbook, my telephone, and my car keys.

Seeing a cantelope size rock lying near the car, I did what I had to do. I threw it right thru the driver's side window. I drove home sitting on a million pieces of glass, and helplessly watched the rain pouring in. But I made it home.

After the experience, I have a spare set of keys wired to the spare tire carrier. So I will never have to go thru something like that again.

No problem. Just straighten out a couple of coathangers, twist them together to make one long wire, bend a hook on the end and then using a couple of screwdrivers carefully pull the driver or passenger window out enough from the rubber seal on the top of the window so that you can insert the coat hanger wire thru the opening you create and direct it all the way across to the opposite door lock pull and use the hook on the end to pull the lock pull unlocking the door...............

Absolutely impossible to do on my '82. The door lock pull knobs are positioned a spot that is impossible to snag.

Well, this is the C5 board, and on my 98 C5 it would be easy to do, and there is a way to do it on most cars, just have to figure how to bend your coat hanger wire and where to insert it.

easy enough,
Put a wedge in the top of the glass and use something to hit the unlock button

That sucks, but it sounds as if it may not be to hard to get into it from what I have read above. Good luck with it, let us know what you ended up doing.

I don't think I could have done the rock through the window though myself.

The Surgeon General doesn't say anything about smoking the competition. Check out these Fast Cars.

All you needed to do was shake the car and it will unlock. Read the secrets thread at top of c5 forum
