Carburetor Sizing Chart

Here's a carburetor sizing chart that shows how many cfm your engine will consume at 75%, 80%, 85%, and 100% volumetric efficiency at 6000 rpm. Note the 100% column only pertains to off road track racing engines with open headers and does not pertain to street engines running mufflers.

I suggest you print this chart for future reference.

When it comes to making BIG mistakes choosing carburetors that are way too big is one of the most common. An engine can only swallow a certain amount of air at maximum power so it does no good to use a carburetor that far exceeds that amount. Using a carburetor that is grossly oversized kills fuel mileage and reduces power so it's much better to use one that is properly sized for the application. In the case of 350" street engines a 600 cfm is more than enough.
