LS1 THROTTLE BODY
Why use a CNC Ported throttle Body?
CNC porting is an excellent way to make repeatable, accurate & high quality parts for a reasonable price.
The fact is… not just anyone can accurately port a throttle body. With years of experience in the development of hand ported cylinder heads & also helping to revolutionize the CNC ported cylinder head market, Pete Incaudo has applied his expertise to the modification of these throttle bodies. To do this, he has modified, tested & reworked these throttle bodies measuring results with a flow bench, until they were flowing the highest volume of air possible, while maintaining smooth throttle response & excellent drivability. After proving the design, they are then digitized so that each could be duplicated to a very high degree of accuracy. This way your throttle body is just as good as original or the next one produced. You will not achieve that quality by hand porting these units, unless you spend the same quantity of hour after hour porting & testing as was done on the original prototype.
The fact is, there are many people selling hand ported throttle bodies, but they do not guarantee the quality of each unit & likely cannot document the results of their parts. There are also many hand ported units that have idle quality issues due to improper porting & damage to the delicate sealing area of the butterfly. With CNC parts, units are no erratic idle problems, or sticking throttles to contend with.

Why use a Racetronix Fuel Pump Upgrade Harness?
Factory wiring:
As experienced drivers we all know from observation that there are certain electrical items on our car that when turned on cause the lights to dim, blower motors to slow down and the voltage meter reading on the dash to drop. There are various things that cause this such as battery condition and alternator output but for the most part it is factory wire resistance. In an ideal world car manufacturers would use heavier gauges of wire to reduce resistance in order to prevent voltage drop but that would add much cost, weight and bulk to the harnesses. As a tradeoff car manufacturers try to find a happy medium to satisfy the load requirements for a given circuit in the car without negatively impacting the operation of the device requiring the power at the end of the circuit. The C4’s factory fuel pump power circuit was designed to provide power for the light current demands of a factory pump. Typically this circuit is comprised of 16 gauge wiring. Current demands can more than double when a high-performance fuel pump is installed. If we take a step back to high school physics, Ohm’s law tells us that when we double the current flowing through a circuit with a fixed resistance the voltage loss across that circuit doubles. The power loss is quadrupled across this circuit which is given off as heat (wasted energy) which can cause electrical contacts (connectors / relays) to heat up and eventually fail. Starving a pump for voltage will cause it to slow down which escalates current demands even more thereby compounding the problem. For those who did not take physics we can consider this scenario… We all know someone who has a high-power car stereo system with heavy power cables running to the amplifier or someone with off-road driving lights using a dedicated circuit with relays. We know what would happen if these amplifiers and lights were hooked up to the same factory circuits which supply the the factory stereo or headlamps! So we pose the question ‘how is a high-performance fuel pump any different?’ Installing an external fuel pump requires a dedicated power circuit. Just because the factory wiring to your pump is convenient think twice about cramming a 20 amp fuse in panel and consider what you are doing!
The harness:
The factory circuit which supplies the pump is much longer and more complex than many people realize. The circuit looks something like this. Pump connector > in-tank bulkhead connector > external tank connector > relay > fuse box > steering column ignition switch > fusible link > starter solenoid > battery > alternator. Some of these circuits which the fuel pump sources its power from are shared which can compound the voltage drop problems.
The Racetronix harness bypasses the entire factory circuit path to provide maximum voltage at all times to your pump. The Racetronix harness uses heavy 10 gauge copper wire to reduce voltage-drop to very low levels so as not to impact pump performance. Our power feed comes off the back of the alternator where voltage is highest. The voltage at the alternator’s output is typically 0.5-1.5 volts higher than at the battery voltage depending on the charge current. It then runs through a weatherproof fuse holder and then to the back of the car. The Racetronix harness has connectors which plug inline with the factory harness at the back of the tank. No cutting or splicing is required. High-quality weatherproof fuse holders and relays are used for maximum reliability. The Racetronix harness has a redundant ground upgrade as it is necessary to improve the harness on the negative side of the pump’s supply as well. The only function the factory harness serves is to trigger the relay in the Racetronix harness (0.1 amps) and to supply the level sender signal to your dashboard fuel gauge. If the need should arise the Racetronix harness can be unplugged in a matter of minutes. Some people even use this feature to disable the vehicle and prevent theft by C4 savvy joy riders. All current series II Racetronix harnesses are equipped with a 30 amp intermediate power connector just after the relay. This connector allows any aftermarket pump booster (MSD / KB / BW) to simply plug into the Racetronix harness. Adding a pump booster (voltage amplifier) can increase pump output volume by as much as 35-40% when run at apx. 16.5 volts (pressure dependent). An extra connector set is included to be installed on the pump booster’s power leads making it a plug & play interface.
Racetronix harnesses are considered the best by which all others are judged. Attention to detail in every Racetronix harness is evident at first glance. Racetronix spares no expense to ensure reliability, ease of installation and performance.
All Racetronix harnesses are assembled using our computerized crimp-quality monitoring system and then circuit checked for the utmost in reliability. This Racetronix harness is backed by our limited lifetime warranty.
UPGRADE OPTIONS
BGK
An optional battery to body ground upgrade kit is available (P/N BGK8). This kit upgrades the under-rated factory ground wire running from the battery to the chassis. It includes an 8 gauge copper wire fitted with terminals and battery nuts with accessory taps. We highly recommend this inexpensive option because this is a weak point in these cars.
PBIC
The Racetronix harness comes equipped with an interface connector just after the relay (see product picture above). This connector in combination with an optionally supplied connector set (P/N PBIC) allows for easy plug and play addition of a pump booster / voltage amplifier such as the MSD or KB units. These voltage amplifiers / boosters will allow the Racetronix single in-tank pump system to support an additional 100-200 flywheel HP (B.S.F.C. dependant) when run at 16-17 volts. This configuration offloads the excessive current draw placed on the factory wiring onto the heavy gauge Racetronix harness system. System diagnosis becomes easier by simply being able to unplug, isolate and bypass sections of the wiring system.

Why use a Racetronix Fuel Pump Upgrade Harness?
Alternator-direct power for maximum voltage / True PnP with GM type connectors:
The Racetronix PnP upgrade harness provides alternator direct power for maximum pump voltage. Racetronix has documented an average 1.2-1.5V increase in pump voltage in the C5 which equates to a 15-18% increase in pump volume based on Walbro’s specifications and Racetronix field tests. A minor increase in fuel pressure will actually be experienced with the installation of this harness. The harness is fully ‘plug and play’ and is installed without cutting into factory wiring. The entire harness is weatherproof made with the same Delphi interconnect components used throughout your C5. The harness’ operation is quite simple. The factory power wire which was once used to power the fuel pump is used to trigger a 40 amp-rated relay which in turn supplies power directly from the alternator with fused protection.
Redundant grounds = improved voltage & reliability:
A redundant ground is provided which loops into the harness. This loop enhances ground to the factory harness making a two-fold improvement. A secondary ground for the fuel module is also provided. This enhances the ground at the pump’s source and through the fuel module’s body. (see above)
Pump-booster PnP ready:
The Racetronix harness is equipped with an intermediate high-current (30 amp) connector just after the relay. This allows for easy plug & play addition of a pump voltage booster which can increase pump performance upwards of 30%. A spare connector assembly set is included so that any booster can be adapted to plug into the Racetronix harness. The Racetronix harness further enhances pump booster performance by eliminating voltage drop. The heavy 10 gauge power feed is more than capable of handling the 15-20 amp loads generated by the pump at boosted voltages.
Fuel Pump Drain & Power System (optional C5-FDK)
A special wiring harness is included with this system which allows the in-tank pump to be powered up without the vehicle running. This can be used to help drain much of the fuel from the tank before undergoing replacement of the factory pump or to drain race fuel from the tank at the track. Simply install the Racetronix upgrade harness, unplug the intermediate pump booster connector and plug this drain harness in. Attach the alligator clip to the back of the alternator + or battery + to supply power. The harness is fused for your safety and is assembled with fuel resistant wire. A length of clear vinyl hose with gear clamp is included which is attached to the fuel module’s ‘black’ outlet port to aid in draining the tank.
Hardware included:
There is nothing worse than being in the middle of an installation only to find that the manufacturer has skimped on installation hardware. This is why Racetronix supplies a spare ATC fuse, 25 black nylon wire ties, silicon grease and stainless mounting hardware with each kit.
Technical note:
The Racetronix fuel pump in this system is capable of supporting apx. 600RWHP @ 0.5 BSFC @ 58PSI (400KPa) using factory lines. In early model C5’s with rail-mounted fuel pressure regulators the above HP support can be achieved. Addition of a pump voltage booster may increase support to apx. 700RWHP. Cars with superchargers, turbos and low battery voltage may see lower HP support numbers.
Late model C5’s with the returnless rail system will not be able to achieve this level of HP support with the fuel system alone. This is because the point of regulation is at the back of the car. The location of the FPR does not allow it compensate for line pressure drop even though the pressure is stable at the back (regulator location). There are two options to get around this problem. First is to convert the system to a rail mounted FRP return type (best). The second option is to install a pump booster which is activated at the point where rail pressure starts to drop. The boost in fuel volume overwhelms the regulator / return line thereby increasing the fuel pressure at the back of the car which translates to higher pressure at the rail. We recommend the MSD unit for FI applications as it ramps the voltage based on manifold pressure. This prevents a short but abrupt fuel pressure spike which
causes the motor to hiccup from brief over-fueling. If you are using an instant-on N2O system then the KB BAP can be considered as well.
Please understand that this is not an issue with the Racetronix system but rather a design limitation of the factory configuration.
2003 C5 Corvettes can be checked for compatibility with the Racetronix fuel system. If your access port for the fuel module can be seen in front of the driver’s side rear tire (under the car) then this system will work. If it is not visible then you have the new type of module which goes in from the top of the tank. The Racetronix system is not compatible with this fuel module / system. If you are not sure please have a qualified person check before ordering your system.

Why use a Racetronix Fuel Pump Upgrade Harness?
Alternator-direct power for maximum voltage / True PnP with GM type connectors:
The 2003+ C5 Corvette is equipped with a top-loaded fuel module which contains a Walbro vane-type fuel pump. This module has an integrated fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter. The Walbro vane pump used in this new module flows less fuel than the Walbro gerotor pump used in previous model C5’s. Having the regulator located in the module moves the point of regulation farther away from the fuel rail. This reduces the fuel pressure stability at the rail even further. Racetronix will be releasing a fuel pump upgrade for this application however removing the fuel module is a major job in this case. The exhaust system and transaxle must be dropped in order to remove the DS fuel tank which contains the fuel module. The module itself is very difficult to re & re from the tank. For these reasons most C5 owners who have this system will chose to use external devices to boost fuel pump performance. This is where the Racetronix fuel pump upgrade harness comes into play. The Racetronix PnP upgrade harness provides alternator-direct power for maximum pump voltage. Racetronix has documented an average 1.0-1.2V increase in pump supply voltage on the 2003+ C5. This equates to a 10-15% increase in pump volume. A minor increase in fuel pressure will actually be experienced with the installation of this harness. The harness is fully ‘plug & play’ so it is installed without cutting into the factory wiring. The entire harness is waterproof made with the same Delphi interconnect components used throughout your C5. The harness’ operation is quite simple. The factory power wire which was once used to supply the fuel pump is used to trigger a 40 amp relay which in turn supplies power directly from the car’s alternator with fused protection.
Redundant grounds = improved voltage & reliability:
A redundant ground is provided which loops into the harness. This loop enhances the pump’s ground providing a two-fold improvement.
Pump booster PnP ready:
Most people installing supercharger, turbo or nitrous oxide systems in a 2003+ C5 will chose to use a fuel pump booster / voltage amplifier (KB BAP or MSD) which can increase vane pump performance upwards of 50%. Up until now people installing a booster would have to cut into the factory wiring harness which for many reasons is not a very good approach. This is no longer required with the Racetronix harness as it is equipped with an intermediate high-current (30 amp) connector just after the relay. This allows for easy plug & play addition of a pump voltage booster. The Racetronix harness removes the increased load off of the factory wiring created by the booster’s amplification process. The Racetronix harness only supplies power to the pump booster when the vehicle computer commands fuel pump operation so there will be no parasitic load on your battery when engine is not running. The Racetronix harness allows the booster to be removed easily should the need arise. The booster is easily mounted inside the open area behind the driver’s side rear wheel well covering where these is plenty of room, good ventilation and minimal exposure to the elements. This area is easily accessible and prevents the booster’s installation from adding to underhood clutter. A connector assembly set is included so that any booster can be adapted to plug into the Racetronix harness. The Racetronix harness further enhances the pump booster’s performance by eliminating the factory wiring’s voltage drop which would require more voltage amplification as compensation. The heavy 10 gauge power feed is rated at 30 amps (relay 40 amps) which is more than capable of handling the 15+ amp load generated by the booster and pump at elevated voltages. The best part is that the Racetronix harness is so easy to install that the labor savings will usually pay for the harness itself when compared to hardwiring a permanent solution from scratch.
Hardware included:
Plenty of wire ties are included as well as a SS mounting hardware for the fuse holder, spare 20A ATC fuse and silicon grease to prevent corrosion and lubricate the chassis-mounted ground leads .
