The 2007 Corvette is Improved in all Areas
Sometimes in life it is three strikes and you are out, but in the case of the 2007 Corvette it was the third time is a charm. This third year C6 Corvette improved upon virtually everything that it could by making the car quicker, more nimble, and even more enjoyable to drive. Not that it needed any refinements form the previous year, but what it got was certainly welcomed by the Corvette Nation.
The standard engine that was made available in the coupe and coverable was capable of putting out an unheard of 400 bhp which is pretty stout for a stock engine. As if that were not impressive enough, the 7.0 V-8 LS7 monster that resided under the hood of the Z06 Corvette belted out a massive 505 bhp.
The Z06 again returned to rave reviews and once again proved that a true super car could be had for well under $100,000. The engineers at GM improved on the 2007 Z06 by trimming up on the weight of the chassis and also enhancing the already high performance braking system. The super Vette was faster and more agile than many of the foreign and domestic names plates that had prices well north of the 2007 Z06 Vette. In a big boost of confidence, Automotive.com said that they found the 2007 Z06 a more enjoyable drive over the pricier Dodge Viper.
When walking around the 2007 Corvette it was hard to distinguish it from the 2006 model and little was changed on the outside save the addition of a new color called Atomic orange Tintcoat Metallic. But as for the overall look, it seemed Chevy was content with the more refined look and sleeker lines that differentiated the C5 generation with that of the new C6.
On the inside the 2007 Corvette got a bigger glove box which represented a full circle for the American icon as the early year Corvettes didn’t even have glove boxes. Also added for 2007 was a set of controls on the steering wheel that allowed the driver to operate the Bose sound system with greater ease.
While the Z06 remained much the same in the looks department as compared to the standard coupe, the 2007 Z06 Corvette did have some subtle differences. The roof panel that was detachable on the coupe was fixed on the Z06 which added to the structural integrity of the super Vette. The front end was made a bit wider and the grille was lower with an air scoop that allowed for more intake of air. Because the tires were wider, so too were the fenders that covered them. The exhaust was unnoticeable bigger, but bigger all the same and the spoiler on the Z06 was made to be more prominent than that of the standard coupe.
Still, no matter what model of the 2007 Corvette that a buyer decided to go with there was simply no bigger sports car bang for the money. Chevy had once again perfected an already perfect car and as always looked to the next year and contemplated how to one up the perfection that they had already created.
