If you have ever wanted to drive a Corvette but never got the chance to do so you are in luck. The National Corvette Museum has recently installed two different Corvette driving simulators and they are now open to the public and ready for you to use. Now it is possible to feel the thrill of driving a Corvette and you get to face some really unique challenges as well.
The simulators are designed to give the participant all the actual feelings of driving a real Corvette and they have five different areas of focus for the participant including:
- Emergency driving situations.
- Driving under the influence.
- Speed, road conditions, and stopping.
- Hazard perception.
- Fuel efficient driving.
Depending on the scenario that the participant selects they will be faced with a different set of obstacles and challenges to concur. Each simulation offers up a totally different and unique state of affairs that the driver of the simulator must deal with and the end result is smile on your face and some learned skills as well.
The simulators were installed in order to raise awareness of the different dangers that exist on the roads today and to educate as many people as possible. Because you are in a simulated Corvette, the learning experience is certainly an enhanced one to say the least.
The simulators are located inside the performance area of the National Corvette Museum and are included in the price if regular admission. The two simulators run from 8:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon and all that is required to participate is to be at least 16 years old and have a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit.
In order to get your time on one of the simulators you need to reserve your 15 minute slot at the admissions counter. Of course they allow and encourage anyone regardless of age to watch the simulators in action. However, simply watching will not give you the same thrill as actually getting to get behind the wheel of one of these simulated Corvettes.
The National Corvette Museum is located in Bowling Green Kentucky right near the factory that puts out all of the Corvette magic. They open at 8am and close at 5pm and besides the simulators they have so much more for the Corvette enthusiast.
The Corvette simulators represent the first of their kind here in the United States and there will hopefully be more that will make their way to the US soon. Although the underlying purpose is education with the Corvette simulators the fact that they are simulating the ride of a Corvette ensures you won’t be able to stop yourself from having a ton of fun as well.
While driving in one of the Corvette simulators isn’t the real thing, it is darn close. As a word of caution, if you are planning a trip to the museum then you will want to make sure that you are in the area for at least a couple of days as one experience in the Corvette simulator is likely not going to be enough for you and you will want to come go for more.
